Sound Samples

An Teach Bán

This guitar tune was composed by Dáithí for old friends in Gaoth Dobhair, Donegal.  It was released on the all-instrumental album The Crow in the Sun, in 2007.

Casadh an tSúgáin

Lovely song in Irish from Dáithí's album Lost River, vol. 1, released in 2011.  Randal Bays is guest on guitar.

The Dreary Parting

Another track from Lost River, vol. 1, this time a song in English, and a version of 'my dearest dear.'   Co-producer John Wright lays down a great bass track.

The Roseville

Composed for dear friends in Minnesota, The Roseville has many folks trying to figure out - just what is this?  A slip jig, a reel, a slip reel?  Altan recorded Dáithí's composition on Local Ground first, then performed and recorded Fiachra Trench's nimble arrangement with the RTÉ concert orchestra.

Waltz for Bill

Composed by Marya Hart and Dáithí Sproule, in honor of Bill Hinkley. Musicians: Tom Schaefer, violin; Dáithí Sproule, guitar; Laura MacKenzie, flute. Recorded June 10, 2010, Minneapolis Minnesota. Engineered and mixed by Willie Murphy. More info and downloads…
